Day 61: Legs & Back; Ab Ripper X
0I almost didn’t do Legs & Back today. I was feeling tired today and was just going to do Sunday’s X Stretch today and then do Legs & Back tomorrow. However, after I got back from dinner I decided to suck it up and do Legs & Back. Although I hate this workout I survived and I’m glad I did it. Ab workout this morning went awesome.
The Day 60 Progress Report
3Overall I have to say that I’m satisfied with the progress that I’ve made over the last 30 days. December was a tough month with the holidays and all. Lots of good food and goodies to eat. However, I did my best to eat moderately and managed to not gain any weight over this time. I did manage to lose about 1% body fat and another .75 inches off my waist. When I started my waist was 35.5 inches and now it is 33.5 inches. For the most part I have improved in all of the workouts. Some have become “easy”, others manageable and others are still really hard. I definitely feel much stronger and can see muscles moving around under my skin. Actually I am beginning to also see an outline of my abs developing. The only disappointment I have is that I thought I might have gained more muscle by this point. To be fair, I haven’t followed the diet plan outlined in the P90X nutrition guide. I have been eating sensibly though and have tried to follow some of the guidelines. I have also been supplementing with some protein powder, particularly on days with strength workouts. I’m hoping to see bigger improvements in this final month but I have a feeling I might need another round of P90X to get to where I would like to be.
I did a round of Yoga today but didn’t have a chance to take my 60 day pictures. I’ll probably get to that on Saturday morning when I have more time. Today’s Yoga workout was the best one I’ve ever had. My flexibility seemed to have jumped so much just since the last time and I was able to do some positions I couldn’t before, or do existing ones better. And my balance was really on point today too. It was a great way to punctuate Day 60!
Overall this was a good month but I’m hoping for bigger gains during this last 30 days.
Day 59: Shoulders & Arms; Ab Ripper X
0Today was another great workout. It was my first strength workout since the miserable one I had 2 days ago and this one went smoothly. I was able to either increase the reps or weight on all the exercises over the last time I did this workout. My biceps looks so pumped up when I was done. Why can’t they stay that way all the time?
Day 58: Plyometrics
0Today’s workout was MUCH better than yesterday. Although my chest and back is a bit sore from yesterday’s pathetic workout, plyometrics went really well. I tried to push it extra hard today to make up for yesterday. Working out later in the day after being properly hydrated and nourished I think makes a difference for me. Working out as soon as I get out of bed is not the best idea, particularly with the strength workouts.
Day 57: Chest & Back; Ab Ripper X
4Today was THE worst workout I’ve had thus far. My body felt so tired and weak. It might be because I did it earlier in the morning than I normally would. I’m not sure. I also think I was a little more dehydrated than usual as well which I think might have been a factor. Mentally I was all psyched and ready to get going today but my body apparently wasn’t. I thought I would have been able to do a lot more pushups and pullups but in some cases I did the same or less. I also had to take a few more breaks than usual. I’m hoping that maybe it is just a transition from recovery week and that tomorrow will be better.
On a positive note, I CRUSHED the ab workout! I waited about an hour and a half after doing Chest & Back and drank a lot of water. I felt much more full of energy and had the best ab workout yet. I’m thinking that I just needed to wake up and get some water and fuel in me to get going.
Day 56: X Stretch; Training Block 3 Here I Come!
3The final recovery phase is now done after this morning’s stretch routine. Tomorrow I start the third and final training block for the remaining 34 days. I’d like to think I’m at the home stretch but 34 days is a long time and there are no recovery weeks left. I’m proud that I haven’t missed a day since I started (knock on wood). Hopefully I will be able to keep that up for the next 5 weeks. Later in the week I’ll take my 60 day photos, probably next Saturday when I have time. Chest, back and abs tomorrow. BRING IT!
