Day 57: Chest & Back; Ab Ripper X
Today was THE worst workout I’ve had thus far. My body felt so tired and weak. It might be because I did it earlier in the morning than I normally would. I’m not sure. I also think I was a little more dehydrated than usual as well which I think might have been a factor. Mentally I was all psyched and ready to get going today but my body apparently wasn’t. I thought I would have been able to do a lot more pushups and pullups but in some cases I did the same or less. I also had to take a few more breaks than usual. I’m hoping that maybe it is just a transition from recovery week and that tomorrow will be better.
On a positive note, I CRUSHED the ab workout! I waited about an hour and a half after doing Chest & Back and drank a lot of water. I felt much more full of energy and had the best ab workout yet. I’m thinking that I just needed to wake up and get some water and fuel in me to get going.
Don’t be discouraged. Every one has good days and bad days. I had a similar experience. I was totally revved to get back to chest/back since I really didn’t like the other chest routine. I expected to show great gains..muscle confusion and all.
I had to struggle just to get back to the numbers I had before. The last phase is mentally, the toughest. You do all the routines, even the ones you don’t like, and it is 4 weeks instead of 3 before you hit recovery.

Hey man, I have done a round of P90x, got fantastic results. I was just wondering if you did the same thing that I did. I was CRUSHING the workouts, doing 50 pushups a set towards the end. I decided I was too good for the recovery week at the end of phase two (first 60 days), and just skipped it, went straight to chest and back + ARX at the start of phase three. And bombed it. I couldn’t even do 20 pushups on the first set. My body was DEAD. That recovery week is CRUCIAL.
Brance, I actually did the recovery week but still struggled today with Chest & Back but did great with abs a little later in the morning. I’m going to do Plyo tomorrow right after work and I hope to bring it strong then.
