Day 89: Core Synergistics

2

Doing this workout a half hour after eating dinner is not advisable. But unfortunately I didn’t really have a choice if I wanted to get it in today. I had to take a couple of breaks since I was getting a cramp. This is the kind of workout that I would do best in the mid afternoon. One more day left!!!!!

Day 88: X Stretch

0

I opted to stick with the scheduled Stretch today instead of swapping it with Friday’s workout. I have a headache today and didn’t feel like stretch out for the more intense core workout. I am really surprised how much more flexible I’ve become in the last 3 months. I’ve said it several times but I still see improvements every week. I’ve noticed too that I haven’t pulled any muscles in a long time and I have a feeling my increased flexibility has a lot to do with that. Even though I’ll be taking a break next week after I finish the program, I’ll fit in a few stretch sessions to make sure I don’t lose what I’ve gained. 2 more days to go!

Day 87: Kenpo X

0

Thanks to a suggestion from my friend Josh, I increased the intensity of this workout a bit by doing high knees in between most of the exercises, particularly the punching section. I don’t find the upper body part very aerobic so the high knees did help to keep the blood flowing. On many of the front to back type kicks I also kept my foot from touching the floor to make it even more difficult and improve my balance. Tomorrow is supposed to be a rest/stretch day but I might move that to Friday and do Friday’s Core Synergistics workout tomorrow instead. I would prefer to have a more relaxing Friday night. We’ll see. 3 more days to go.

Day 86: Core Synergistics

1

I started this one later than I had hoped but was happy with it overall. This is one of the workouts that I have to do the fewest. I believe this was only the fifth time. I remember it being very tough the first time but tonight I did surprisingly well with it. In fact I will probably increase the weights on a few of them next time. Even though it is primarily a core workout it definitiely works out the whole body. Holy crap, only 4 days left!

Day 85: Yoga X

1

I kind of lost some focus today for some reason. I started the Yoga workout this morning and just wasn’t feeling it. I cut it short about halfway into it, just before the balance postures. I finished up the second half tonight while watching the UCONN game at the same time. Bad idea. It’s really hard to stay “calm of mind” while watching this pathetic team get killed in the first half. Balancing is definitely hard to do while distracted. I’ll pull it all back together tomorrow for Core Synergistics, although that workout is a real bear.

Day 84: X Stretch

1

One of my small toes is really sore and really purple after smashing it into the doorframe yesterday making some of today’s stretches a bit difficult. I made some small modifications to avoid bending or putting too much pressure on it. As usual, I really like this workout. I know it’s an optional one but I’ve never missed one and recommend it to anyone. I find that it not only has improved my flexibility but also resets me for the next week. 6 more days to go!

Day 83: Kenpo X

0

Despite smashing my toes in the doorframe while getting water midway through the workout, Kenpo was great. My foot was sore for the last 25 minutes though. I head into the final recovery week now and have only 7 more days to go. I can’t believe it’s the final week.
